Raymond is an ADI and automatic driving instructor in Warrington with two years of instructor experience and more than 15 years of driving experience. He has taught more than 60 learners and has particular experience helping complete beginners and nervous pupils, including people with little or no previous driving experience.

His previous career in sales developed strong communication and listening skills. These help him understand how different learners respond to feedback and adjust his explanation without making a pupil feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Teaching Approach

Raymond breaks difficult skills into smaller stages instead of introducing everything at once. When teaching a roundabout, for example, he may work first on approach speed, then observation and gap judgement, before asking the learner to combine the skills.

​

He uses short verbal explanations, demonstrations, simple diagrams and coaching questions such as “What are you looking for here?” Some learners need to see a skill demonstrated, while others understand it more quickly by trying it themselves.

​

For example, a nervous beginner may initially need each stage of a junction explained. Raymond gradually changes from full instruction to prompts, then coaching questions and finally independent driving once the learner is ready.

Local Knowledge

Raymond teaches across Great Sankey, Chapelford, Westbrook, Old Hall, Penketh, Callands, Whittle Hall, Burtonwood and surrounding areas. Learners experience residential streets, busy town roads, crossroads, multi-lane roundabouts, rural roads and dual carriageways.

He regularly prepares pupils for Warrington, Widnes and St Helens Driving Test Centres. Around Warrington, sections of the A49 and A57 and the Wilderspool Causeway and Knutsford Road area help learners practise early lane choice and forward planning. Around Widnes, Liverpool Road, Derby Road and the Eastern Bypass provide experience of changing speed limits, roundabouts and faster traffic.
