Experience & Expertise

Fai is a PDI and Cantonese-speaking driving instructor in Warrington with one year of instructor experience and more than 15 years of UK driving experience. He has taught more than 30 learners and teaches automatic lessons in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

He has particular experience helping Hong Kong drivers, overseas licence holders and learners adapting to UK roads, as well as pupils preparing for the UK practical driving test. His previous construction career developed a practical approach to problem-solving, awareness of surroundings and forward planning.

Teaching Approach

Fai does not teach an experienced overseas driver in the same way as a complete beginner. He first assesses what the pupil can already do and then concentrates on the habits and situations that genuinely need adjustment.

​

Lessons may focus on roundabout judgement, meeting traffic, appropriate speed, mirror use, lane discipline and UK driving-test expectations. Fai uses verbal explanations, demonstrations, coaching questions and quick diagrams for unfamiliar road layouts.

​

For example, an experienced Hong Kong driver may control the car confidently but hesitate at UK roundabouts. Fai may demonstrate how he assesses approaching traffic and identifies a usable gap before allowing the pupil to practise with progressively less support.

Local Knowledge

Fai teaches across Great Sankey, Chapelford, Westbrook, Old Hall, Penketh, Callands, Whittle Hall, Burtonwood and surrounding areas. Learners practise on residential roads, in town-centre traffic, around roundabouts and on dual carriageways and faster rural roads.

​

He regularly prepares learners for Warrington, Widnes and St Helens Driving Test Centres. Practice may include Wilderspool Causeway, Knutsford Road, A57 Manchester Road, Liverpool Road, Lunts Heath Road, Derby Road and the Eastern Bypass. Fai also introduces unfamiliar routes so learners develop independent driving skills instead of memorising directions.
